Security for your small business is super important. Well, that’s absolutely true. You have to take care of your business.
After all, you run and own a business. But by making it a habit to push beyond the ordinary and the things that you feel you have absolute control over to the things that you need to set up for ultimate success, you end up laying the foundation for that success.
Most business people don’t get this. They’re stuck in a survival mindset. The good news is that in most of America, that is good for at least $50,000 to $70,000 a year. Depending on your industry and depending on where you’re located, that might even be good for up to $150,000 a year.
I’m talking about net income here. I’m not talking about gross. I’m not talking about the income that you have before interest depreciation, taxes, and all that other good stuff. I’m talking about stuff that you can take to the bank and spend on yourself and your family. Not too shabby, right?
And it’s no surprise, given this context, that people would rather stay where they are. Here’s the problem and I hope you’re sitting down. If you decide to stay where you are, you’re not going to go anywhere.
I know that sounds discouraging. I know that sounds depressing even. But it’s the absolute truth. You have to push your boundaries forward. You have to keep pushing against the walls of your comfort zone. Otherwise, your comfort zone is going to collapse around you.
That’s right. It’s going to start acting and looking like a prison. It may not have any walls, but guess what, the worst prisons are the ones that don’t have any visible walls. In this situation, the walls holding you in and keeping you back from the otherwise spectacular success your business is otherwise capable of is your mindset.
When you start taking care of the things that you think are small afterthoughts like small business security, you have pushed back against your mindset. You have put your foot down and you have said, “I’m going to start thinking differently today so I can start acting differently tomorrow.”

Make no mistake, people don’t care about what you think because hey, everybody has an opinion. Opinions are like noses. Everybody’s got one. But once you start translating or transitioning from thinking about things to actually doing them, that’s when the world sits up and pays attention.
You know why? Here’s a leadership lesson for you; when you take action, you change your world because for every action, there’s a reaction. And before you know it, there is a chain reaction. And often times, if you take the right action at the right time with the right people, you produce the right outcome.
